Helping Mothers to Breastfeed
Misconceptions and myths about breastfeeding have prevailed over the decades. Reflecting the ambivalent attitude of some towards breastfeeding, Gina Yong started The Breastfeeding Advocates Network (TBAN) in 2009 to educate and support breastfeeding. Unsuccessful attempts to breastfeed her firstborn motivated the initial efforts as she realised that support played a large part to succeed. Now a breastfeeding counselor, Gina provides help and advices through her classes. For Gina, it was a gradual journey of helping friends and new mothers. As it is, the road to normalisation begins with educating and preparing ourselves with facts and not just hearsays.
We at Passion Portraits are constantly inspired by the many stories we hear of other passion-driven individuals in our community. In this episode of our Pp Original Series, we would like to celebrate and introduce to you the people behind The Breastfeeding Advocates Network (TBAN). By sharing these stories, we hope that you too would be encouraged and inspired by their endeavours.
